We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr N.S. Tiwana, former Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board. Dr Tiwana devoted his life to public service and made valuable contributions to strengthening environmental governance and pollution control in India. His leadership, vision, and commitment to protecting the environment earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and professionals across the country.
Even in his later years, he remained an inspiring figure, whose wisdom and dedication continued to guide the environmental community. Dr Tiwana’s passing is a great loss to all those committed to environmental conservation and sustainable development. Dr N.S. Tiwana was a founder member of Wetlands International South Asia and a member of our General Body. Dr Tiwana’s demise is a great loss to our organisation.
