Wetlands International South Asia seeks application for Technical Officer – Knowledge Base Development

Job Purpose

The incumbent for this full-time position based in New Delhi shall focus on coordinating implementation of Wetlands International South Asia’s flagship project “State of Indian Wetlands”. The project aims at enhancing and systematising the knowledge base on wetlands status, trends and drivers of change and project future scenarios. The project envisages triggering collaborative conservation action on adverse trends through policy harmonisation and gap filling, better spatial and sectoral targeting and replication and upscaling of best practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ‘State of Indian Wetlands’ project including preparation, implementation and monitoring of project operational plans and activities.
  • Generate a repository of datasets on Indian wetlands, their current status, trend and likely projections.
  • Prepare statistical trend indices for Indian based on primary and secondary datasets.
  • Maintain and nurture partnerships to support project implementation.
  • Support communication and outreach on issues related to wetlands status and trend in India.
  • Liaise with State Governments, funding agencies and other external agencies on various aspects of wetlands management.

Essential qualifications

  • MSc in natural resources management, environmental science, water management, geoinformatics or related disciplines
  • At least two years of work experience in a similar position or management of technical programmes related to wetlands
  • Remote sensing and GIS application for wetlands mapping
  • Understanding of wetlands management needs and challenges
  • Proven technical writing skills in English

Desirable qualifications

  • M Tech/PhD on a topic related to aquatic ecology, wetlands mapping, water management
  • Experience of working on wetlands in disciplines of ecology, limnology, hydrology, socioeconomic aspects and other related areas relevant for management planning and policy-making for the conservation and management of wetlands.
  • Statistical analysis of big data using R, Python

Remuneration

The incumbent will be placed in Grade 4 of salary scale, with an annual gross remuneration of Rs. 8.5 lakhs with all perks.

Wetlands International South Asia office seeks applications for the position of Technical Officer – Wetland Carbon. This is a full-time position based in New Delhi.

Job Purpose

The incumbent for this full-time position shall focus on assisting the implementation of the wetland carbon strategy and peatlands strategy in the South-Asian region. Key responsibilities include research, project implementation and management, communications and outreach with relevant stakeholders, support office in organising workshops and capacity development programs, establishing strategic partnerships and other administrative work.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Establish and enhance knowledge base on wetland carbon, specifically on Himalayan and Coastal Peatlands
  • Develop flagship report on Indian Wetlands Carbon
  • Support strategy building on conservation and management of peatlands in South Asia region
  • Integrate carbon related assessments in wetlands conservation and planning projects
  • Support project implementation by drafting technical reports and policy briefs on wetland carbon and peatlands
  • Write blogs and articles for organisation website, newsletter and other Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials
  • Develop partnerships with stakeholders and decision makers to aid wetlands conservation and management planning in the region
  • Contribute to the resources development in line with the orgnisational strategy on peatlands, himalayas and so on.
  • Represent the organization at various meetings and fora
  • Any other as may be assigned by line manager and the Director, Wetlands International South Asia

Essential Qualifications 

  • Masters in Environmental Science or Technology / Climate Sciences / Pedology / Remote Sensing and GIS / Water Resources Management / related fields
  • At least two years of work experience in related fields

Desirable qualifications

  • M.Tech//PhD on wetlands ecology or soil carbon
  • Proven skills in carbon assessments using remote sensing & GIS

Remuneration

The incumbent will be placed in Grade 4 of salary scale, with an annual gross remuneration of Rs. 8.5 lakhs with all perks.

Wetlands International South Asia seeks applications for the position of Communications Associate

Wetlands International South Asia is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to conservation and wise use of wetlands in South Asia region. For more information, please visit:  https://south-asia.wetlands.org/

Wetlands International South Asia office seeks a Communications Associate to support development of the organization’s communications strategy. The incumbent should be adept at developing content and managing communications for a range of projects, as well as maintain website and social media presence. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing news, views and features that bring organization’s work into spotlight as well as craft compelling narratives to support policy engagement and resource development on diverse themes of natural resources such as ecosystem conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, food and water security and building resilience.

This is a full-time position based in New Delhi.

Job Purpose

The Communications Associate will be responsible for managing communications for various programmes of Wetlands International South Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain website including content development, coordinating updates and monitoring analytics.
  • Maintain social media presence in Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other platforms
  • Develop informational and promotional written, visual and digital communications materials to support advocacy, fundraising, reporting and external relations management for various audiences.
  • Prepare infographics on key concepts.
  • Developing communications and knowledge products in close collaboration with the project team, advocacy leads and partners.
  • Manage publication of technical reports, newsletters, brochures and other documents.
  • Coordinate for designing and publishing of select resource material of the organisation

Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters’ degree in mass communication, natural resources management, Communications design, Graphic design or related fields
  • At least two years relevant work experience in copywriting, designing or other communications tasks. Experience with environmental organisations would be preferable.
  • Demonstrated track record in website content development and management, writing and editing articles, social-media, reports, leaflets, flyers, news and blogs
  • Knowledge of WordPress and Hootsuite
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools like InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and similar software
  • Understanding and interest in environment or wetland issues

Remuneration

The incumbent will be placed in Grade 3 of salary scale, with an annual gross remuneration of Rs. 6.2 lakhs with all perks.

Wetlands International South Asia office seeks applications for the position of Account Assistant. This is a full-time position based in New Delhi. 

Overall Job Purpose

The Account Assistant will be responsible for all day-to-day financial operations and book keeping. The position will be based at New Delhi and may require travel to project sites. Specific duties include:

  • Prepare vouchers and ensure approval and payment after permission of the competent authority.
  • Maintain books of account and prepare reconciliation statements.
  • Prepare TDS, EPF and GST returns
  • Support annual and internal audits as per approved Terms of Reference.
  • Prepare project financial reports as per approved guidelines in consultation with Head of Finance.
  • Maintain asset registers.
  • Prepare and monitor partner contracts.
  • Co-ordinate logistical arrangements for workshops, conferences and other events of the organisation under the guidance of finance officer. 

Academic Qualifications

  • B.Com (Hons) (essential) and M.Com.(desirable)

Experience

  • Proficiency of working on spreadsheets
  • Proficiency of working on Tally Software
  • Atleast 2 years’ work experience in financial accounting and book keeping
  • Conversant with provisions of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, Direct and Indirect Taxation Act and Rules, Income Tax Act and Rules and other laws and regulation pertaining to administration of non-profit organization
  • Proficiency of working on TDS and GST Software
  • Experience of project-based accounting and reporting
  • Experience of preparing project contracts

Remuneration

The incumbent will be placed in Grade 2 of salary scale, with an annual gross remuneration of Rs. 5.20 lakhs with all perks.
