1. Wetlands International South Asia invites applications for the post of National Project Coordinator

The Integrated Management of Wetland Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Project, hereinafter IMWBES, is a Full-Scale, five year, Global Environment Facility funded project of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and United National Environment Programme as the GEF Agency. The IMWBES project has a goal of “conservation and wise use of wetlands for sustained provision of their full range of ecosystem services and maintenance of biological diversity.” The project objective is to “enhance management effectiveness of wetlands of national and global significance and integration in developmental programming”. Wetlands International South Asia as the Lead Technical Support Agency (LTSA) of the project is anchoring the Project Management Unit (PMU) and providing technical backstopping to project implementation.

Wetlands International South Asia invites application for the post of National Project Coordinator for the IMWBES Project. This full-time, five year position will be based at New Delhi. Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the technical focal point for national stakeholders and broaden national stakeholder base where relevant, e.g. by organizing national stakeholder consultations and facilitating national stakeholder meetings
  • Organize the meetings of National Project Steering Committee (NPSC) and Technical Advisory Group.
  • Prepare detailed annual workplan and budget for review by the NPSC, signing by National Project Director (NPD) and review/approval by UNEP
  • Prepare regular progress and financial reports
  • Coordinate the work of all stakeholders under the guidance of the NPD and the NPSC and in consultation with the LTSA and UNEP Task Manager
  • Ensure effective communication with the relevant authorities, institutions and Government departments in close collaboration with the NPD and UNEP
  • Prepare and oversee the development of Terms of Reference for subject matter specialists, Pilot Project Site Teams, and Consultants
  • Monitor progress of project in relationship with the results framework

Essential qualifications

The candidate must have:

  • Masters degree in ecology, natural resources management, hydrology, water management, environmental sciences, environmental planning and related disciplines.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in handling coordination function of internationally funded projects involving multiple partners.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and directing complex or multiple projects of strategic importance to conservation sector.
  • Ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and Hindi other relevant languages including ability to translate complex issues into concise and clear messages
  • Highly skilled in drafting presentations and technical reports.
  • Should be under 45 years of age.

Following are desirable:

  • Understanding of existing policy environment and programmes related to wetlands in India.
  • Good publication track record.
  • Experience of working on GEF funded projects

Remuneration 

The position carries an all-inclusive gross monthly remuneration of Rs.1,30,000/-

Wetlands International South Asia invites application for the position of Wetland Specialist for the IMWBES Project. This full-time, five year position will be based at New Delhi. Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as a technical focal point for matters related to project
  • Prepare Terms of Reference for FSP components, Demonstration Project Site Teams, and Consultants
  • Maintain project web-site
  • Conduct periodic monitoring visits to the demonstration sites and assess progress of implementation of integrated management plans
  • Maintain an overview of development and use of various tools, knowledge products, capacity building and outreach programmes

Essential qualifications 

  • Masters degree in ecology, natural resources management, hydrology, water management, environmental sciences, environmental planning and related disciplines.
  • Atleast three years’ experience in handling similar assignments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.

Desirable qualifications 

  • Ph D on a topic related to wetlands
  • Experience of survey and assessment of wetlands.
  • Understanding of GIS and mapping tools.
  • Understanding of existing policy environment and regulations on wetlands.

Remuneration 

The position carries an all-inclusive gross monthly remuneration of Rs.70,000/-

Wetlands International South Asia invites application for the position of Project Accountant for the IMWBES Project. This full-time, five year position will be based at New Delhi. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data
  • Prepare recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required for budget preparation, audits and other reasons
  • Maintain an inventory of capital equipment and prepare the annual inventory report
  • Prepare budget revisions to reflect previous and planned expenditure
  • Advise and assist project staff on their allowances, salaries, travel claims and other financial matters
  • Give basic instruction in accounting procedures to consultants and recipients of small grants
  • Facilitate annual audit

Essential qualifications 

  • Bachelors in Commerce (Honours) or Master in Business Administration (Finance).
  • Good grasp of accounting procedures and related legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Atleast five years’ experience in project accounting and reporting.
  • Good written and speaking skills in English and Hindi.
  • Proficient in handling Tally accounting software.
  • Conversant in Audit procedures.

Desirable qualifications 

  • Experience of accounting for a multi-lateral agency project.

Remuneration 

The position carries an all-inclusive gross monthly remuneration of Rs.50,000/-

  • Masters degree in ecology, natural resources management, hydrology, water management, environmental sciences, environmental planning and related disciplines.
  • Atleast one year experience in handling similar assignments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.

Desirable qualifications 

  • Experience of survey and assessment of wetlands.

5. Wetlands International South Asia invites applications for the post of Technical Officer – Water Management

 Overall Job Purpose

The incumbent will coordinate implementation of water management components of all projects and initiatives of Wetlands International South Asia. Work shall also include development of concept notes and project ideas related to wetlands and water management. Good knowledge of hydrology and water resources planning and management is essential. The position is based in New Delhi and will require frequent national and international travel.

Roles and responsibilities 

  • Coordinate implementation of hydrology and water management related activities in various projects of the organization
  • Support development of concept notes and ideas related to wetlands and water management.
  • Undertake, based on monitoring and modelling, assessment of water and sediment inflows and outflows, water balance, and demand for various human usages as well as ecological purposes
  • Develop capacity of wetlands managers and stakeholders in assessing the role of wetlands in water management, and integrating wetlands in water resources planning and decision-making
  • Coordinate preparation, implementation and monitoring of project operational plans and activities in cooperation with implementing  partner organizations and stakeholder.
  • Support policy and advocacy on issues related to wetlands, water management and climate change
  • Support communications and outreach on issues related to wetlands, water management and climate change
  • Prepare scientific and technical reports when required 

Essential qualifications

  • Tech or Equivalent degree in civil engineering/hydrology/water resource management/ planning or related disciplines
  • Minimum five years experience in handling water management projects, especially related to hydrological assessments of wetlands
  • Experience in capacity development on integrated water resources management

Desirable qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydrological modelling
  • Understanding of existing policy environment and regulations on water and wetlands
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and directing complex or multiple projects of strategic importance to wetlands and water management.
  • Experience in surveying rivers and wetlands
  • Ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages including ability to translate complex issues into concise and clear messages. 

Remuneration

Commensurate with the qualifications and work experience of the candidate.
