The Embassy of the United States of America and Tears of Earth Foundation in collaboration with the American Center, New Delhi, hosted the 5th session of Young Changemakers Dialogue (YCD) on “Peace and Environment” on June 14th, 2024. Mr. Saadan Hussain, Junior Technical Officer (Climate Change) representing Wetlands International South Asia participated in the forum.

The dialogue brought together around 150 participants including youth, academicians, and conservation professionals.

 

The Young Changemakers Dialogue discussed sustainably managing land, water, air, and wildlife to promote a generation of change-makers actively engaging in substantive conversations addressing the environment. Recognizing the importance of involving young people in environmental and climate change issues, the dialogue acknowledged youth’s potential as agents of transformation and tried to empower them with knowledge, skills, and perspectives.

During the dialogue, Mr. Saadan Hussain eloquently connected wetland conservation with society, highlighting its deep cultural, economic, and ecological significance. By presenting the laws and regulations governing them, he highlighted the state and trends of water security and conservation in India. Mr. Saadan also emphasized the vital role of wetlands in mitigating floods and droughts acting as Nature-based solutions. He asserted the need for continued engagement and collaboration, promoting partnerships and working towards a shared vision of a just world.

The dialogue brought together around 150 participants including youth, academicians, and conservation professionals. Their active involvement, enthusiastic exchange of insights, and deliberation on potential steps forward demonstrated their strong commitment to environmental sustainability and conservation.
