A two-day online training program was jointly conducted by Wetlands International South Asia and GIZ- India for the District Forest Officers (DFOs) of Tamil Nadu, under the aegis of “IKI-Wetlands Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection” project.
The training program, held over October 19-20, 2020, was the first of its kind where the DFOs of the state were trained on the implementation of Wetlands (Management and Conservation) Rules, 2017. Over 45 DFOs of the state participated in the sessions which covered aspects like – introduction to Wetlands Rules, Wetlands mapping and delineation, Preparation of Brief documents and Integrated Management Plans.
Dr Ridhi Saluja (Technical Officer-Wetlands Ecology) and Dr Ritesh Kumar (Director), Wetlands International South Asia, moderated the sessions and imparted training.
