The Honorary Members provide a widened expertise base within Wetlands International South Asia Society. The Members were inducted in the General Body in 2012.
Annual Meeting of the Honorary Members was convened on September 28, 2018, at New Delhi. Discussion highlights were new initiatives – assessment of wetland loss in Mahanadi Delta region, analysis of urban wetland loss, management effectiveness assessment for wetlands, capacity building of wetland managers and pursuance of regional cooperation with other organisations.
Matters on strengthening engagement with state governments, the urgency for wetland delineation to pervert wetlands loss, and strengthening outreach were deliberated. The members stressed the need to disseminate information on multiple values of wetlands to various segments of the society to catalyse proactive conservation action.
