Wetlands International South Asia and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Policy Research and International Studies (AIPRIS), The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a Certificate Course on Wetlands Conservation and Management.
The MoU was signed at a Stakeholder Consultation on Capacity Development for Wetlands Conservation and Management, held at the AIPRIS Seminar Hall in Vadodara, Gujarat, in the presence of Prof B. M. Bhanage, Vice Chancellor, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
The proposed course aims to provide participants with conceptual understanding, technical knowledge, policy perspectives and practical exposure relating to wetlands. The course will draw on Ramsar Convention guidance and promote interdisciplinary learning across the ecological, legal, policy, institutional and socio-economic dimensions of wetland management, with an emphasis on field-based and application-oriented training for students, researchers, government officials, practitioners and community stakeholders.
Through this partnership, Wetlands International South Asia and AIPRIS will collaboratively design the curriculum, prepare core learning and resource materials, and provide mentoring and certification. The institutions will also support student research initiatives, policy briefs, and outreach efforts.
This MoU marks a significant step toward building a trained cadre of professionals, drawing in students, practitioners, government officials, and NGOs alike, fully equipped to drive India’s wetland conservation goals forward.
