Dr. Manoj P. Samuel is the Executive Director of Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM), Kozhikode.
The technologies developed and popularised by him includes Water filtration systems for different end-uses (drinking, irrigation and groundwater recharge), Polythene lined ponds for water harvesting and fish farming for hilly terrains, GA tool kit for groundwater management, Water Quality Decision Support System, Expert System for Technology Valuation, Mobile fish vending kiosk, Solar fish dryers, Fish Freshness Sensor, etc.
Dr. Samuel began his career at KVK, ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod in 1995. Later he worked as Senior Scientist in ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Barapani and ICARNAARM, Hyderabad. In 2013, he was promoted as Principal Scientist at ICAR-NAARM and during 2016-2021, he worked as Head of Division in ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India).
Dr Samuel has more than 150 publications to his credit with 53 research papers in international and national peer-reviewed journals. He published 12 books, 33 book chapters and 69 popular articles. He possesses four copyrights for computer software/Decision Support Systems, two design registrations and two patent applications filed. He is a member of 13 international/national professional societies and a reviewer of 19 national/international journals. He was also Adjunct Professor in College of Agrl. Engg., ANGRAU, Bapatla, Member, Board of Studies, VIGYAN University, Gundur, Andhra Pradesh and Academic coordinator of PG Diploma in Technology Management in Agriculture (PGDTMA) offered jointly by the University of Hyderabad and ICAR-NAARM Hyderabad and PG Diploma in Management (Agriculture) offered by ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad. He is a certified Assessor for NABL, Commercial Expert of Agri Innovate India Ltd (ICAR), Member of Transport Engineering Division Council and WRD Hydrometry Council of BIS,Working Group member of National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee and Evaluator of BIRAC-BIG and GYTI projects. He is also currently serving as the Management Committee member of the KSCSTE- Institute of Climate Change Studies, Kottayam and Kerala School of Mathematics, Kozhikode.
