Han de Groot, CEO of Wetlands International, stressed the necessity for creating strong and long-lasting partnerships for wetlands protection when speaking with staff members of Wetlands International South Asia. On June 20, 2023, Han de Groot visited the Wetlands International South Asia office in New Delhi while on a four-day official trip to India.

Han de Groot is guiding the transition to new leadership at Wetlands International in his capacity as CEO following Jane Madgwick’s lengthy and highly successful term.
Han joined the organization in March 2023. Prior to that, he was the Executive Director of the Rainforest Alliance and most recently worked as the Netherlands Food Partnership’s interim Executive Director. He has a plethora of experience working in international NGOs and has taken an active role in preserving nature and the biodiversity of the planet. He has also been active in agricultural supply chains. Additionally, he has served as a connector for numerous global food and agriculture firms seeking sustainable supply chain solutions.

In a short interactive session in New Delhi office, Dr Ritesh Kumar, Director Wetlands International South Asia briefed Han de Groot about the history of Wetlands International South Asia and the vision and mission of the organisation towards wetlands conservation.

Dr Kumar also introduced the body of work of South Asia office and the strategy for the coming decade.

Han also met the Board members of Wetlands International South Asia and discussed the ways in which cooperation between the organisation and the global office be strengthened.
