Wetlands International South Asia in collaboration with United Nations Environment Program is hosting a webinar on 2nd September, 2020 on “Wetlands as Ecological Connections in the Central Asian Flyway”, from 15:30-17:00 hrs (IST). India lies at the heart of Central Asian Flyway (CAF), which spans 30 countries and covers 279 populations of 182 migratory waterbird species. As the current President of Conference of Contracting Parties of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), India is committed to developing an institutional mechanism for CAF.
The webinar would dwell upon pathways for conserving high ornithological value coastal and inland wetlands, using an ecological network approach, along with deliberating on related aspects of governance, monitoring, capacity development and community mobilization.
Ms. Amy Fraenkel, Executive Secretary, CMS and Mr. Saumitra Dasgupta, Additional Director General, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India, would be delivering the inaugural and the keynote address respectively.
