A two-day event on wetland management and climate adaptation took place on August 6-7, 2024. On August 6, a pivotal workshop was held in Delhi, organized by GIZ in collaboration with Wetlands International South Asia, Perspectives Climate Group, and the Institute of Economic Growth. Chaired by Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), the workshop gathered a diverse group of site managers and stakeholders.

 

The event, organized by GIZ in collaboration with Wetlands International South Asia, Perspectives Climate Group, and the Institute of Economic Growth, was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

The workshop drew a diverse group of participants, including site managers and key stakeholders from various organizations. Notable attendees included representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), State Wetland Authority, NITI Aayog, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and the International Council for Local Environmental included contributions from the Chief Conservator of Forests, Chennai, the Division Forest Officer, Chennai, and other key members of the State Wetland Authority. The team concluded their visit with an on-site examination of the Pallikaranai wetland.
