A multi-stakeholder workshop for the Integrated Management Plan (IMP) for Renuka Wetland and Pong Dam Lake, prepared as part of the IKI-funded Wetlands Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection project, was held by the Himachal Pradesh State Wetlands Authority (HPSWA) and the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department (HPFD), with GIZ and Wetlands International South Asia. WISA provided technical support. The workshop took place in Shimla on May 11, 2023.

This workshop was chaired by Member Secretary, HPSWA to review the two integrated management plans (IMP), their budgets and joint management actions with support of various departments. Participating actively in the session were representatives from the State Wetlands Authority, Jal Shakti, District Disaster Management Authority, Forest Department (Wildlife and Territorial), Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Agriculture Department, and Pollution Control Board, among others.

The workshop concluded with a positive step towards HPSWA’s endorsement of the two management plans with the incorporated suggestions and feedback from the workshop. The workshop also highlighted the need for District Wetland Committee in Himachal Pradesh and next steps towards formulation of the same.
