The General Body of Wetlands International South Asia forms the apex of governance, providing strategic and policy directions to the organisation. The Eleventh Annual General Body meeting was convened on September 29, 2018, at New Delhi.
The members approved the Annual Report for 2017-18. Key highlights have been new initiatives on assessing wetlands loss, building the capacity of wetlands managers, focus on outreach on wetlands values, and enhancing regional presence. The significance of working with state government and frontline staff entrusted with the management of wetlands was reiterated.
The General Body remembered their late colleague Dr Dhrubjyoti Ghosh, Founder Member, who is credited for his immense contribution to the designation of East Kolkata Wetlands as a Ramsar Site.
