Nestled within the floodplains of Yamuna Basin within 15 kms of River Yamuna, Dhanauri wetlands in Greater Noida is a Sarus crane hotspot attracting wide range of bird enthusiasts and ecologists for the mesmerising experience it offers.

The Uttar Pradesh State Wetlands Authority plans to designate the wetland as a Ramsar Site and requested the support of Wetlands International South Asia in formulating the designation proposal. Dr Ritesh Kumar (Director) and Harsh Ganapathi (Technical Officer) conducted a site reconnaissance on September 7, 2020 and discussed the management proposal with Forest Department Officials and Gram Pradhan. A wetland map will be prepared based on the inputs received during the visit and interpretation of multi-season satellite images
