Wetlands International South Asia along with its partner Nidan organized a community awareness and outreach campaign in Samastipur District in Bihar to mark the occasion of World Water Day 2020.

Role played by wetlands in providing freshwater, flood & drought mitigation and as biodiversity habitats were highlighted in small group meetings that saw the participation of village communities, block and Panchayat officials. In view of the emerging COVID -19 situation in the country and scheduled Janta Curfew on 22nd March, the events were held a day earlier on 21st March 2020. Do’s and Don’ts for preventing spread of COVID-19 virus and the role of clean water in handwashing were also emphasized upon.
