A two-day workshop was organised at Government High School Korzok (Puga) on 3rd and 4th November 2025, attended by 53 students and 19 teachers. The workshop familiarised students with the diversity of wetlands across India, highlighting their ecological functions and the ways in which they support life, ranging from water and climate regulation to the conservation of biodiversity and cultural traditions. Special emphasis was placed on the ecological significance of Tsomoriri, its role within the Central Asian Flyway, and its importance as one of the Indian breeding sites for species such as the Black-necked Crane and Bar-headed Goose. An interactive quiz reinforced key concepts, while a group activity encouraged students to express their understanding through drawings.

The following day, students visited the Tsomoriri Wetland, where they observed its distinctive hydrological characteristics and received practical instruction on using a water-quality testing kit. The field excursion provided students with an opportunity to directly correlate theoretical knowledge with the practical realities of wetland operations in challenging alpine environments.
The programme has laid a strong foundation for nurturing informed, motivated youth who can contribute meaningfully to the conservation of Tsomoriri and its globally significant alpine ecosystem. A dedicated Wetland Learning Centre was set up within the school premises as part of the initiative. The Centre will continue to host activities, training, and outreach to strengthen student-driven wetland stewardship in the Korzok community.
