With an aim to facilitate the State Wetland Authority of Kerala (SWAK) in the preparation of the Brief Documents for notifying wetlands in the state as per the Wetlands (Conservation & Management) Rules, 2017 the Wetlands International South Asia held an online training programme on August 24, 2022.

The programme attended by professionals from SWAK and WISA had two sessions and covered aspects of introduction to Wetlands (Conservation & Management) Rules, 2017, Wetlands mapping and delineation, Zone of influence delineation and wetlands notification. It also covered the process to be followed for data collection and preparation of Brief documents through a case study of Uttar Pradesh.

Member Secretary, SWAK Mr Suneel Pamidi emphasised on the conservation and management of wetlands and various ways to achieve the same.

The training programme was conducted under Global Environment Facility- Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change- United Nations Environment Programme funded Integrated Management of Wetland Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Project.
