Dr. Pamposh, a researcher of Department of Botany, University of Delhi who worked for her doctoral thesis with Wetlands International – South Asia was nominated for the best student award by the University for the year 2006.
Her research titled “Study on Floodplain Vegetation of River Yamuna in Delhi Stretch” is an extensive characterization of the vegetation within the floodplains of River Yamuna in Delhi stretch and has significant findings on the role of vegetation in biodiversity conservation and water quality improvement. She will be conferred this award at a function organized by the University on the 9 November 2006.
WISA actively promotes research on wetland conservation and management and has collaborations with University of Delhi, Barkatullah University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, School of Planning and Architecture and Guru Nanak Dev University to support these initiatives. Till date more than 15 university students have worked for their post graduate and doctoral dissertations with WISA on various wetland related aspects.
